SO I GOT A NEW CAMERA AND HERE'S WHY...

The review said this little camera was for "advanced photographers who want something that fits in their pocket and doesn't suck". I wouldn't call myself an advanced photographer, but those other two things I was looking for. We're off to Mexico and the US this week and I didn't want to lug my usual camera around with me. Do you know how long I have been holding off telling you guys that I am going on a holiday? I'm so superstitious about saying "I'm going to do X" in case I tempt fate and X doesn't end up occurring. As you might know, I'm also terrified of flying and just don't want to jinx the whole experience. Just thinking about the flight gives me palpitations so I've shoved it to the back of my mind for a while now. But here I am, ignoring superstition and telling you my plans for the next few weeks. We fly from Sydney to LA, staying there one night before traveling by train up to San Francisco. After San Fran, we head for Mexico to watch my big brother and his beautiful fiance tie the knot. Then we're off to Vegas for a few days and after that back to see some of LA.
I'm glad I've told you where I'm off to because now I can ask you all your recommendations. I haven't planned anything to do while we're there, I've never actually set foot in the US in my life. So throw your suggestions at me, - shopping, sights, dining - whatever you've got I wanna hear it!

^^ Pretty compact, hey? (I don't own a blackberry, just so we're clear) ^^

  2. So jealous that you're going to the states! My bf (well, fiance now) took me to LA & West Hollywood for my 21st. He took me to Disneyland in LA because I've always wanted to go to a Disneyland. Absolutely loved it, especially since there was a Sephora just outside in downtown Disney! West Hollywood was overrated, didn't like it there all that much. I think our experience with the hotel and the bus company killed the trip to West Hollywood for us.

We drove to Camarillo Premium Outlet and brought back a boot full of stuff. The bf doesn't normally go crazy shopping, but he did at the GAP store there because they had a sale on (I think it was 50% off), making everything so friggin cheap.

Lastly, we learnt that because americans have such low wages and rely heavily on tips, that if you are not satisfied with a service and really want to show it, you tip 1 cent. I wish I knew that before I went because I would've tipped that dreadful bus driver/company 1 cent, instead of nothing at all. Also, another tip for tipping... You're meant to tip 10-20% BEFORE tax(depending on where you are, and what kind of service). We didn't know that until the end of trip. :(

Thanks for taking the time to share your tips with me. It really helps! I'm looking forward to the outlet shopping actually, James' brother loved it when he went there! Came back with loads of stuff!

    1. Thanks so much! How are you finding the Olympus? I am hoping to find a camera as a gift for someone when I go through Duty Free. Which model is it?

  4. SOO excited for you Anna. GET MAKE UP IT'S SO MUCH CHEAPER THERE.

Urban decay is really popular but they don't stock in Australia! So you could check that out. Check out Brandy Melville - it's a one size fits all place. Victoria's secret is fun too!
