BRING A JUMPER... JUST IN CASE

I wasn't the type of child to ever pack a jumper/sweater "just in case". Nor did my parents tell us to. They must have known we were invincible... or that you can't actually catch a cold from just being in the cold. No, we roamed the neighbourhood barefoot, wearing summer clothes in winter and the wild, unbrushed hair of the lost boys of Peter Pan.

Nowadays I'm not the warm-blooded young thing I used to be and I tend to feel the chill if one drops in suddenly. My latest buy from Witchery is sensible for such days and, because I am one to overindulge in stripes, has a few sequins thrown in to stand out from the rest of the Bretons in the drawer. I took it with me for a bit of old fashioned exploring - a more civilised one than the days of my childhood, I must add. This time it was just me, my camera (in its new Billingham bag) and a book for company. And shoes, this time.
