BEACHES, BLUE SKIES AND BLOGGER-INSPIRED FASHION

Magazines used to be my world. I'd faithfully buy the weekly gossip rags and monthly fashion bibles, sprawl on the sofa and get lost in those glossy pages. Magazines don't hold the same appeal for me anymore - in this digital age, it's blogs that captivate, inspire and influence me.

From recipes to fashion, travel destinations to D-I-Y's, blogs offer me so much without asking for anything in return. I don't have to wait a week or even a month to find out what's hot, nor do I have to spend a single penny for this privilege. My latest purchase was inspired by my very favourite blogger, Rose (aka The Londoner). The Great Gatsby is a book that has always been very dear to my heart so you can imagine my delight when I saw Rosie modelling this 'Party at Gatsby's' sweater (and praising its comfort) a few weeks back. It looked so lovely on her and, like dog-earing the pages of a fashion magazine, I knew I had to have it for myself...

Wearing this top and seeing beautiful skies outside put me in the mood for a trip to Balmoral, a stunning bay in Sydney's north.

We headed for a late lunch at The Bather's Pavilion, a classic Sydney dining destination. This place is always impressive. From the gorgeous exterior...

... to the bright, airy interiors...

...the real treat, however, is the food. While I made the difficult decision of what to order, I thought a Pimms and Lemonade might help me along. I think this is the best spin on the old P&L I've ever seen!

I eventually decided on this glorious Leek and Goat's Cheese Tart with Apple, Walnut and Mache Lettuce. I'm still dreaming about that soft, buttery pastry...

James went for the classic Peppered Beef Mignons with French style Peas and Potato Gratin. It's been on the menu since goodness-knows-when, testament to its brilliance!

We inhaled our dishes, pausing only to lean over and sample each other's food. Of course, we weren't done yet. The dessert menu was beckoning and the chocolate fondant and steamed marmalade pudding had our names on them!

Just look at that oozy goodness!

With very grateful palates and slightly full bellies, we took a walk along the beach as the sun started to dim...

I love this beautiful blue-eyed boy...

...As much as I love staring at his beautiful behind!

A perfect Saturday at the beach... How can Sunday possibly measure up?!

...What are you up to this weekend?
